Maple's Hiking Tips

Smugglers Notch, VT, is a hiker’s paradise with trails for all skill levels. Below are some of the most popular Maple-approved trails. But first and most important, please read all of Maple’s pawesome tips to ensure the best hiking experience!

Remember to always follow best practices when hiking:

1. Check the weather before heading out, as conditions in the mountains can change rapidly.

2. Wear layers and appropriate footwear for varied terrain and weather conditions (extra socks are always a good idea).

3. Check trail conditions before heading out. Some areas may be closed seasonally or due to inclement weather.

4. Cell service can be limited in the mountains and valleys, plan accordingly and always make sure someone knows your trail route.

5. Pack sufficient food, water, and supplies depending on the duration and conditions of your adventure.
